Earlier this week the UK’s 14-day quarantine came into effect. The new measure is designed to prevent further cases of COVID-19.
This policy was announced by the Home Secretary last month. It will see all passengers self-isolate for a period of 14 days on their arrival to the UK.
Passengers will be asked to fill out a contact locator form and provide details of where they will stay during the quarantine period. This could include staying at hotels or with family and friends or failing this - accommodation arranged by the UK Government.
British Marine understands that Border Force is expected to carry out checks to ensure compliance with the policy. We also understand that the requirements vary slightly in each of the Devolved Administrations and would encourage anyone arriving into the UK who intends to travel to these parts of the UK to check the requirements.
The quarantine applies to all arrivals subject to a list of exemptions which can be found here.
