The Board of British Marine South West are delighted to extend an invitation to British Marine members to attend the 2020 Conference and AGM sponsored by Bartons Solicitors. The Conference will take place on 13 March 2020 at South Devon College, Hi Tech & Digital Centre, Long Road, Paignton, TQ4 7EJ.
This year’s Conference themes are Innovation and Collaboration and will aim to bring together what is happening in the South West region to better inform and inspire the membership.
There will be the opportunity to showcase the Best of the West at the conference venue, the all new £17m South Devon College Hi Tech & Digital Centre. Ocean BMW will display an iSeries BMW to illustrate a comparison with the automotive sector and innovators, Nautibuoy Marine will showcase their latest award winning products and local award winning manufacturer Ribeye Boats will showcase a class leading RIB.
Conference presentations will take place in the 100 seat 4k screening theatre and break-out sessions in the venue’s innovative teaching and learning facilities.
Speakers include:
- Alison Thompson, Head of Learning and Development, Princess Yachts on industry collaboration in training and apprenticeships
- Rob Watson, Director, Marine Business Technology Centre on innovation in alternative propulsion systems including electric and hydrogen
- Philipp Lawson, General Manager ABB, Marine & Ports on the impact of autonomous vessels
- Vicktor Brelsford, Head of Immersive, Fuel Immersive on innovative use of immersive (Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality) technologies
After lunch there are a series of break-out sessions, these include:
- A hands-on Immersive Technologies workshop with Gareth Day, Head of Curriculum Digital on Creative & Design and Vicktor Brelsford, Fuel Immersive
- Cyber security threats and challenges, Nirosha Holton, Programme Coordinator on Digital Media and Computing
