Decarbonisation - Representing You

Decarbonisation - Representing You

British Marine has been representing the UK Marine Industries position on the international stage for a number of years

From the IMO (International Maritime Organization) clean air strategy on engine emissions for the Superyacht Sector, to the small craft emissions regulations that entered into the Recreational Craft Directive in 2003, British Marine has been vocal proponent of UK industry, but as our understanding of climate risk has changed, so has our message.

We are all now aware of what we have to do and what is expected of us. British Marine's representational role is to ensure that the UK marine industries position is loud and clear to those that we need to influence, and that we have the information and data to make a clear case for how the sector should be transitioning.

We support the transition to Net 0, but it must be done in a strategic, enabling way, and we must take our industry and our customers on this journey. Poorly made decisions, without full understanding of the consequences will not be acceptable.

To this day the message has been clear to government and international stakeholders:

Governments should be enabling the transition to alternative fuels in the short term and supporting the industries Research and Development in finding long term innovative solutions.
