Product Recall for 3M Scott ELSA, Munster, Emergency Life Support Apparatus
5 February 2025

3M™ Scott™ Fire and Safety has identified a quality issue involving a limited quantity of certain batches of hood assemblies on the 3M™ Scott™ ELSA 2000, Sprint and Muster variants. A limited number of ELSA Hood assemblies have been identified with a seam defect that may cause air to leak from the hood and contaminants from the external environment to flow into the hood.

The affected part numbers were supplied between the 29th of June 2023 and the 30th of May 2024.

3M confirms that there have been no reports of injuries or accidents associated with this recall.

The 3M™ Scott™ ELSA (Emergency Life Support Apparatus) muster variant, is an escape breathing apparatus which provides a constant supply of air for rapid escape from hazardous industrial and marine environments. It is supplied with a portable compressed air cylinder should the air become unbreathable. A fully charged air cylinder would provide the user with at least 15 minutes of breathable air to leave the hazardous area.

3M has posted a customer advisory notice on their website, for customers and authorised distributors advising them to return any defective products to their nearest 3M Scott authorised service centre.
