ICOMIA (The International Council of Marine Industry Associations) has published the report from the IMO meeting 12 of the Subgroup on Pollution prevention and response. The meeting was held from 27-31 Jan 2025.

The main items of interest from this meeting were the following:

• The 2025 Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) Guidelines have been finalised and are expected to be adopted at MEPC 83 in April this year.
• Progress on the revision of MARPOL Annex IV and associated guidelines to introduce provisions for record-keeping and measures to confirm the lifetime performance of sewage treatment plants.
• Guidance on in-water hull cleaning of ships’ biofouling finalised (Note that ICOMIA is also monitoring the development of ISO standards related to this topic).
