For 2025/26, the British Marine Board agreed that members should submit an updated declaration of their marine based turnover. The data provided determines your British Marine membership fee, but it is also used for collating industry statistics. Accurate statistics are vital to our function as the national representative body for the industry in the UK.
We understand that every penny counts at the moment for a lot of our members, so in response to the ongoing economic situation, the British Marine Board have also agreed there will be an inflationary increase in subscription rates of 3.5% on last year’s fees.
Marine trading turnover is defined as the value of all sales and services of the UK member company, including international trading, connected to the leisure, superyacht (over 24 metres) and small commercial (up to 24 metres) marine industry. This includes the manufacture and supply of craft, equipment, engines/systems and accessories and all marine related services to consumers and businesses. Please report your turnover as per your last full financial year audited accounts. These accounts are ideally prior to March 2025. The amount should be in pounds sterling. If you are not legally required to have audited accounts, please make an estimate as per the end of your last financial year. In interests of fairness to all British Marine members, random turnover checks are carried out via returns to Companies House.
Full guidance on calculating your turnover can be found in the explanatory notes.
Members can submit their marine turnover via a declaration submission form. A link to this form and all specific details are provided within the recent member email invitation from Amy Lovell.
Once completed, your submission will be sent to the membership team for processing. You will have until 9 May to send this information to us, ready for your invoice to be issued on or around 2 June for payment by 1 July.
Any members who choose not to submit an updated turnover will have an automatic 10% increase added on their last received turnover and will be invoiced accordingly based on this figure.
Please note: British Marine did not require members to submit an updated turnover declaration for the 24/25 membership period, so this increase will be based on a member’s 23/24 renewal turnover. In addition, this increase does not mean your subscriptions will increase by 10%, simply the turnover value which we calculate the subscription on.
