The fundamental requirement for all recreational craft placed on the UK market is to ensure that the vessel meets the Recreational Craft Regulations 2017 SI 737 (RCR) and its Essential Requirements.

There are over 90 BS EN ISO standards that are harmonised to support the RCR. All the harmonised standards are available online and all BS EN ISO standards are reviewed every 5 years to ensure that they are up to date with technological advances.

There are multiple ways of accessing standards, with prices ranging from free to hundreds of pounds per standard.

The new guidance document provides information on methods of obtaining access to the standards ranging from free in person to online browsing through standards rental packages.
