We invite you to join the upcoming Pantaenius UK webinar on 29 October at 7pm (GMT), featuring a truly inspiring figure in the world of sailing: Geoff Holt MBE DL. In conversation with renowned sailing commentator Alec Wilkinson, Geoff will share his remarkable story, his mission to promote inclusive boating, and insights into completing his latest incredible challenge, "Finishing the Dream".
Geoff's connection to the sea has been a defining force in his life. Growing up by the coast, his passion for sailing began early, and despite a life-changing accident in 1984 that left him paralysed from the chest down, his determination to remain connected to the water never faltered. Instead of stepping back, he forged ahead, pioneering disabled sailing and serving as the first Chairman of RYA Sailability, which opened the doors for countless disabled individuals to experience the freedom and joy of sailing.
Geoff's personal accomplishments are nothing short of extraordinary. In 2007, he became the first disabled person to sail solo around Great Britain, and in 2009, he tackled an even greater challenge - crossing the Atlantic Ocean unassisted, a 2,700-mile journey completed over 28 days. His remarkable feats continue to demonstrate not only his resilience but also the limitless potential of disabled sailors, inspiring a global audience.
In 2011, Geoff founded the Wetwheels Foundation, a groundbreaking initiative that enables disabled people of all ages to access the water through fully accessible powerboats. Wetwheels has grown into a nationwide charity, offering thousands of individuals the chance to experience the sea in a safe, inclusive, and empowering environment. Geoff’s vision to break down barriers and bring people together through the power of maritime adventures has changed lives - and continues to do so every day.
The webinar will also spotlight Geoff’s "Finishing the Dream" challenge, a daring circumnavigation of Great Britain in a Wetwheels boat. From this ambitious journey, Geoff aims to raise significant funding to expand the Wetwheels’ fleet, ensuring that even more disabled individuals can share in the incredible experiences he has enjoyed.
Do tune in to hear Geoff’s inspiring story on the 29th October, learn more about the Wetwheels Foundation, and discover how Pantaenius UK is supporting Geoff’s work to make the water a place of freedom and adventure for everyone.
