DECARBONISATION - Applications are invited for the UK National Clean Maritime Research Hub's Wave 2 Flexible Funding Call
3 October 2024

Through a total of four waves of Responsive Research calls, the UK National Clean Maritime Research Hub (UK-MaRes Hub) aims to fund up to 30 world-leading responsive research projects. Funding for approximately seven projects is available under Wave 2.

The full economic cost (fEC) of each successful project (excluding any project partner contributions) can be up to £50,000, of which the UK-MaRes Hub will fund 80% fEC (as is standard for EPSRC funded calls). In addition to the funding requested from the Hub,as a requirement for this call, we also require equivalent match funding to be leveraged from your project partners on a 1:1 basis.

Proposals are invited to address five priority research areas:

1. Real-time vessel data communication
2. Risk and uncertainty regarding marine regulations and policy implications
3. Novel energy-saving devices to improve vessel efficiency
4. Novel cost-effective nuclear propulsion systems
5. Autonomy for vessel efficiency
