At British Marine, we are continually seeking opportunities to support our members in enhancing their businesses and embracing innovative workforce solutions. Over the past months, we have been working behind the scenes collaborating and fostering relationships to facilitate significant opportunities on behalf of our members.

In line with this mission, we are excited to spotlight the Careers Transition Partnership (CTP) and Forces Employment Charity (FEC) that offer vast potential for recruiting skilled, disciplined, and dedicated employees from the service leavers and veteran community.

A Wealth of Opportunities with CTP

The CTP provides a comprehensive support system for service leavers, offering everything from soft skills development to training bursaries. This preparation ensures that veterans are not only ready to leave service but are also equipped to thrive in civilian careers.

For British Marine members as employers, CTP offers a ‘no cost service’ for advertising vacancies and matching service leavers to these opportunities. British Marine members and leading industry players including Princess, Sunseeker, and Pendennis are already benefiting from this initiative, leveraging veteran skills to bolster their teams.

Employing veterans is not just about building a competent workforce, but it also comes with financial incentives. Businesses hiring ex-UK Armed Forces personnel can claim relief on National Insurance contributions under certain conditions, providing a significant benefit to employers. CTP offers a number of engagement channels for you to promote your business to the veteran community including:

  • Webinars and Events: Host or participate in webinars and events with CTP to directly connect with potential hires. Upcoming CTP events unlock pivotal networking opportunities.

  • Community Awareness: Contributing articles to CTP's digital newsletter, which reaches approximately 12,000 subscribers, can significantly enhance your visibility within the military community. Articles are welcomed in word format by the 20th of each month for publication in the following month.  Find out more and to register and submit your articles visit https://www.ctp.org.uk/focus

  • Register & Advertise: Unlock further opportunities by registering to advertise your vacancies directly to a targeted audience.

FEC’s Dedicated Support

The Forces Employment Charity runs several programmes aimed at supporting the integration of military personnel into civilian roles. British Marine members have the opportunity to partake in FEC’s presentations and webinars, which include comprehensive Q&A sessions to address specific recruitment strategies and discuss the success of veterans already embedded within businesses.

We have also been working closely with FEC to bring you an exclusive webinar followed by a Q&A session. The 20-minute presentation, led-by the FEC, will provide insights into planning and executing military talent recruitment days, ensuring our members are equipped to attract and retain the best of military talent. The presentation will take place at 10am on 23 May.  Mark your calendars and join the online event here.

Explore new opportunities

This exciting introduction to the Career Transition Partnership (CTP) and the Forces Employment Charity (FEC) marks just the first phase of our work with these two key organisations to help address critical skills shortages within our community. Stay tuned as we continue to unveil more activities with CTP and FEC designed to support your recruitment needs and business growth.

We encourage all British Marine members to explore these opportunities, engage in upcoming events, and consider the advantages of employing skilled veterans. Together, we can foster a community that values skills, dedication, and the profound contributions of those who have served.
