Hamble Point Yacht Charters is proud to have partnered with Gwennili Sailing Trust to support several sailing trips throughout the season. The charity provides invaluable relief for the mentally and physically disabled, particularly ex-service people providing respite and educational opportunities onboard yachts. They are dedicated to making offshore sailing fun and accessible to all.
This year, the local and independently run charter company will spend time skippering and working with a diverse range of charity members, sharing the joy of sailing and spending quality time exploring the South Coast. They said it's a pleasure supporting the wonderful things The Gwennili Trust does for veterans.
“What a wonderful week I had with the Gwennili Trust last week. It was a revelation. It reminded me that life is still out there and there are lots of things I can still achieve in the future even if they might be challenging at times. I met a lovely group of like-minded people who I now consider new friends. We learned a lot, laughed a lot, and had the chance to talk freely about our challenges if we wanted to. A perfect safe space”.
The trust is run entirely by volunteers who have organised sailing trips to Yarmouth and around the Isle of Wight. The crew has plentiful opportunities at the helm, sheets, and halyards, allowing them to learn and participate in a relaxed but supportive environment. The Gwennili Trust and its members will sail with Hamble Point Yacht Charters for three weeks this year, as they continue to assist with the incredible opportunities the charity provides.
