The David Coleman Excellence in Exporting Award 2024 has been won by savvy navvy for their constant innovation and ambitious ongoing drive to expand. With a team of talented developers and technicians spread across the globe, savvy navvy has become a genuine worldwide success story and a worthy award winner. It follows on from winning the 2023 MTA Business of The Year Award.
Suzanne Blaustone, Barton Marine’s CEO presented the award to Jelte Liebrand, savvy navvy’s Founder and CEO at the popular British Marine MTA Awards Dinner held at the Grand Café in Southampton. The dinner attracted over 100 members of the marine industry, joining together as a community for an evening of entertainment, including the awards and an act from a Sir Winston Churchill impersonator, recounting tales from D-Day to mark the 80th anniversary.
Suzanne Blaustone commented upon presenting the award: “savvy navvy has transformed the marine navigation market since its founding in 2017, creating what is known as, “the Google Maps for boats” and continues to scale up, adding new features that sailors and other watercraft users require to make time on the water more accessible and easier for all. They are working to expand chart coverage worldwide, providing a global resource for users and have expanded their distribution with a new US Sales network in the last 12 months. It is a pleasure to honour the team with this prestigious award.”
Jelte Liebrand said on receiving the award: “We’re thrilled to be acknowledged with the David Coleman Excellence in Exporting Award for our continuous global expansion of both our users and our partnerships. It comes at a great time, with savvy navvy continuing to scale up dramatically. We are actively shaping the marine industry for the better and working alongside my 15-strong team we are challenging the bigger navigation apps in the global market.”
The David Coleman Award for Excellence in Exporting was created in memory of the late David Coleman, a hugely popular figure within the marine industry and a highly active member of British Marine, serving on the board for 25 years. He was a passionate advocate for UK exporting, championing excellence in the marine industry. In 1986, David purchased Barton Marine, transforming the business into the global brand it is today and with Suzanne now at the helm, shaping it for the future.
