A Legendary Evening for All at The Marine Trades Association Awards Dinner
13 June 2024

The British Marine Trades Association (BMTA) Awards Dinner returned to Southampton on Monday 10 June to recognise and celebrate successes in the UK leisure marine industry.

The BMTA Awards Dinner is a firm favourite in the marine calendar with over 100 guests filling the Grand Cafe, Southampton, for the annual event sponsored by Barton Marine, Barrus, ASAP Supplies, Deep Blue Cloud DMS and Haven Knox-Johnson.

The evening’s award announcements started with the David Coleman Excellence in Exporting Award, presented by Barton Marine’s CEO Suzanne Blaustone, going to savvy navvy.

Jelte Liebrand, savvy navvy MD, said; It's phenomenal. I did not expect it, it's humbling, but great to get recognition from the whole industry, so thank you very much."

British Marine Trades Association Business of the Year went to Ginger Agency. This growing business, in its fourth year, has seen positive development both in its growing team and client base.

Ginger Agency Founder, Hayley Harris commented; "I am completely honoured. I absolutely love the marine industry and it is a privilege to run a company in marketing combining the two things I adore."

In 2023, a new award was introduced to the event by Malcolm Stewart of Haven Knox-Johnson, whose aim is that the award highlights the future of the industry and to recognise achievements. The MTA Young Marine Professional of the Year, sponsored by Haven Knox-Johnson went to industry favourite, Ben Taylor.

A very popular award, dubbed 'the one everyone wants', the MTA Personality of the Year went to someone that is constantly supporting and championing the industry and is a much loved, welcome presence at most events. Sadly he was unable to join us on the night, the award went to Mike Wimbridge.

BMTA Chairman Paul Martin completed the evening’s presentations by awarding the 2024 BMTA Chairman’s Special Award to Lyndsay McClay for her contribution and support of British Marine Association events.

MTA Chair Paul Martin said of the event: “The BMTA Awards Dinner continues to be an excellent event that attracts a great industry turnout to celebrate each other's achievements and business success."

Wrapping up the evening, special guest, impersonating Prime Minister Sir Winston Churchill entertained guests, recounting his time 80 years ago during D Day and the Battle of Britain.
