Marine maintenance brand, August Race, has been recognised for its decarbonisation achievements, by being named as finalists in the 2024 Global Good Awards; the only marine brand to be selected for the international awards shortlist this year.
The Global Good Awards are celebrating their 10th year, and have established themselves as the benchmark of authenticity in the independent awards sector, being the first award ceremony in the world to be accredited as ‘Outstanding’ by the Awards Trust Mark. Previous Global Good Award winners include brands such as M&S, Ocado, Octopus Energy, Microsoft and The Crown Estate.
August Race CEO Sarah Wallbank states: “We are absolutely thrilled to be named as finalists in this category. The de-carb and waste minimisation gains we have implemented have required significant internal change and investment, and this recognition reaffirms the strategic decision we made to do better with our manufacturing footprint and set the standard”.
Other finalists in August Race’s category include: The National Theatre, Motorola and the Glasgow Chamber of Commerce. The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony in central London on 3rd October, with a live stream around the world to ensure finalists from outside the UK can also enjoy the celebrations.
Sarah Wallbank adds: “We are not an ‘eco brand’, and we don’t claim to be or use it as a sales tactic, however we believe in the social responsibility that we all have for the preservation of our environment. On that basis, we at August Race chose to do as much as we could to reduce our impact by being ‘environmentally conscious’, which is the foundation stone of our enterprises and it always will be. The company is named after our 11 year old son August, and it serves as a great reminder that our duty is first and foremost to the next generation’s environmental inheritance”.
A final word from Global Good Awards MD & Founder Karen Sutton: “Restoring and protecting our marine ecosystems is a critical element of securing the future of our existence on this planet, so we’re delighted to see August Race listed as a finalist for the Global Good Awards. GGA recognises only the very best in social and environmental sustainability – focusing on real action, not aims and targets. We wish them lots of luck at the Award Ceremony in October.”
