Flogas Gold and Red Butane bottles sold across East Anglia, East Midlands, the home counties and the South East between the 6-22 November have been filled with a mixture of Butane and Propane.
This has been found to be outside the defined BS4250 standard and will result in a higher vapour pressure within the cylinder than normal.
Affected cylinder sizes are 4.5kg, 7Kg and 13Kg.
Butane regulators are manufactured to BSEN12864 and BSEN 16129, which requires them to be designed for a maximum inlet pressure of 7.5bar as a maximum. Should the inlet pressure of the regulator exceed the design pressure, this could lead to leakage of joints, failure of components or gas/flames to be emitted from the appliance itself.
This product does not meet the requirements of The Gas Appliances (Enforcement) and Miscellaneous Amendments Regulations 2018.
The product has been recalled from end users and withdrawn from the market.
Flogas are calling for all customers who may have purchased one of these cylinders in the affected region particularly through a retailer such as B&Q, B&M, Homebase, another local seller or gas dealer to stop using the butane gas bottles immediately. Do not connect the gas. If already connected, disconnect it immediately. Where possible keep the cylinder stored outdoors. If you must store it indoors, ensure it’s away from sources of heat until collection is arranged.
All affected customers should contact Flogas on 0330 041 6629 or cylinder.recall@flogas.co.uk for collection and a free replacement.
