The MCA releases the first amendment to the Workboat Code edition two

The Workboat Code edition two was first released by the Maritime & Coastguard Agency (MCA) in December 2018, The MCA has now published its first revision with basic corrections to the text. These corrections do not contain any technical changes.

MCA release new guidance for pleasure vessels

The UK Government has published a set of six Marine Guidance Notes (MGN) to reinforce to managing agents, skippers and owners what is good practice in terms of safety when going out to sea, in a bid to to reduce the risk of any accidents occurring as a result of not following the most acceptable standards of safety required.

The EU commission has reviewed and updated the harmonisation of the ISO standards for lifejackets that are certified under the Personal protective equipment (PPE) regulations following an investigation into the failure of a lifejacket and a Formal Objection from Sweden.

Act now: Carbon monoxide alarms to become mandatory from April

From 1 April 2019 at least one carbon monoxide (CO) alarm became a requirement on nearly all private and non-private boats in scope of the Boat Safety Scheme (BSS) Requirements. BSS Certifications will not be issued to boats without alarms.
