We strongly lobby for appropriate technical standards at regional, national and international levels and provide individual assistance to ensure members can comply with any changes.

British Marine membership also offers free access to regional and group associations that provide focus for specific interests.

For example, the British Marine Trades Association harnesses the talent and ambition of more than 390 businesses that provide a wide range of supply, support and specialist marine services. Key activities include networking opportunities, dinners and annual awards to highlight the successes of its members.

The British Marine Engines & Equipment association covers the manufacturing, supply and support of propulsion and auxiliary power, including related engine equipment and personal watercraft. Its 100 members benefit from networking events, technical collaboration and support, as well as optional participation in a sector-specific statistics scheme.

British Marine Access to Boating specialises in members that serve the sailing dinghy and yachting sectors. It has a particular focus on working to boost participation in the sport.

BMET Electrical

A Marine Electrical industry recognised qualification, which takes place during the BMET Electrical course, aimed at people with at least one year's experience in marine electrics, or equivalent. Syllabus is based around the BMEEA Code of Practice.

One of the requirements of the Recreational Craft Directive (RCD) is that every CE-marked boat has a unique identity number that can be used to identify the country of origin, the builder and year of build of the boat.
