The IPV Code and Safety Management Systems

The Intended Pleasure Vessels (IPV) Code has been in force since January 2019. British Marine worked with the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA), Yacht Brokers Designers & Surveyors Association (YBDSA) and the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) to limit the burdens on industry whilst ensuring the MCA is satisfied the vessels are operating safely whilst in temporary commercial use.

The recent Advanced Marina Managers (AMM) course held in Sibenik, Croatia saw marina professionals from around the world come together including delegates from Turkey, Spain, Montenegro, Italy, Greece, Croatia, England and Scotland.


British Marine returns to BOOT Düsseldorf 2020 in brand new location with new stand concept and design

BOOT Düsseldorf is one of the world’s largest indoor international boat shows, a meeting point for both boating and watersports enthusiasts, with over 250,000 visitors from 90 countries and 1900 exhibitors which takes place from Saturday 18 January to Sunday 26 January 2020.


The Maritime Skills Academy Simulator Centre Opens with Visit from Virgin Voyages Executives

Sir Richard Branson, founder of the Virgin Group, and Virgin Voyages CEO Tom McAlpin made a special visit to the Maritime Skills Academy (MSA) Solent on recently to open the centre officially with a ribbon cutting ceremony. During the visit, Branson tested the simulators for himself and met some of the Crew who will be sailing and training at the centre for Virgin Voyages.

Last week (15 October) saw the annual British Marine Electrical & Electronics Association (BMEEA) Conference take place. The Chairman, Derek Gilbert, opened the Conference by welcoming the speakers and special guests, including Lesley Robinson, CEO of British Marine; he also thanked the Event Sponsors, especially Victron Energy as Headline Sponsors of this year's event and welcomed a group of apprentices, invited to join the conference and to participate in a competition during the day.

Latest British Marine Scotland member survey shows confidence in the Scottish Marine Sector and the Marine Tourism Strategy

British Marine Scotland undertook a survey of British Marine members in Scotland earlier this year. The Summary Report of the responses reveals an optimistic, confident sector, with more than half the respondents experiencing increased business and two thirds of members having development plans they would like to progress over the next five years.
