Marine Resources, a distinguished leader in the recruitment sector of the marine industry, is thrilled to announce its strategic commitment to nurturing and supporting future talent within the sector. With over two decades of industry experience, Marine Resources is taking proactive steps to ensure a thriving future for the marine industry by investing in the next generation of professionals. The company recognises the pressing need to address the challenges posed by an ageing demographic, skills shortages, and rapid technological advancements.
James Ward, CEO and founder of Marine Resources, explains: "The goal is to future-proof marine businesses by being at the forefront of raising awareness about our industry's exciting opportunities."
In response to these challenges, Marine Resources has made a commitment to concentrate a large proportion of its marketing efforts, resources and investments on young professionals, aged 13 to 35, who represent the future of the industry.
The campaign started with the sponsorship of the Superyacht UK Young Designer competition at the Southampton International Boat Show 2023. Eight design students from universities across the country were tasked with producing a General Arrangement (GA) sketch based on a brief created by a judging panel of industry experts at the start of the competition.
Ward further elaborates on the competition's significance: "This competition has put a spotlight on Superyacht Design as a career choice like no other. With the chance to network with some of the most famous Superyacht Designers in the world and receive fully funded internships at their incredible studios, this competition is totally unique. We are thrilled to have been able to support this fantastic competition as part of our 20-year anniversary celebrations and investment back into the industry as part of our 'Future Talent' campaign."
The Future Talent campaign is built on four main pillars: Attract, Train, Retain, Thrive, serving as a comprehensive model to engage with both employers and employees at events like METS, the Boat Builder Awards, Southampton International Boat Show, and many more. It aims to give young professionals a voice by providing a platform to express their aspirations and expectations for the marine industry's future. This initiative also seeks to collect insights and data while educating and influencing the industry on the unique needs of young people and professionals, particularly millennials and Gen Z, as vital contributors to the industry's success.
Marine Resources' commitment to securing the future of the marine industry is a testament to their dedication to fostering innovation and growth within the sector. By investing in young talent and addressing the industry's challenges head-on, Marine Resources is leading the way towards a brighter and more prosperous future for the marine industry.
