The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy will be running a series of webinars on using the UKCA marking and placing goods on the market in Great Britain and Northern Ireland. The webinar series will be taking place between January and March 2022. The reason for running the series of webinars is to help businesses understand the new requirements that are needed for the UKCA mark, as the UK now has its own robust regulatory framework for goods.

Manufacturers need to start using the UK conformity assessment marking (UKCA) to place goods on the market in Great Britain (England, Scotland and Wales). The UKCA mark regime seeks to ensure consumers are protected from unsafe and non-compliant goods. The UKCA mark will be required for all goods being placed on the market in Great Britain (England, Scotland and Wales) from 1 January 2023.

There are different rules for Northern Ireland and BEIS will be running dedicated events to cover the requirements for placing goods on the market in Northern Ireland.

The webinars will be covering topics like:

  • Adapting to your new responsibilities as an economic operator
  • Understanding the routes available for conformity assessment
  • Understanding marking and labelling
  • Placing goods on the market in Great Britain
  • Placing goods on the market in Northern Ireland
  • Understanding the new UK regulatory regime: Focus on construction products
  • Dedicated Q&A only session

British Marine suggests that its members look over the series of webinars that BEIS is running and sign up to any that you feel will be beneficial for your business, so that you are confident that when we reach 1 January 2023 and the UKCA mark comes into full effect, your business is properly equipped with all of the information and understanding needed going forward.

You can find a link to the BEIS website, where you will be able to find the list of the webinars, dates they will be running and links to sign up to the webinars here.
