Member feedback requested on apprenticeships and the recognition of professional qualifications

Published on: 14 September 2020

The Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education (IfATE) is looking to gain feedback around outcomes for furloughed apprentices and how to sustain apprenticeships over the coming months.

Now it is more important than ever to ensure the right opportunities are out there for people to develop new and relevant skills. British Marine members can help make this happen. Insights from business have informed the Institute’s approach over the past three months and have guided their advice to the UK Government in these unprecedented times.

The IfATE remains committed to ensuring that the views and insights of all businesses are given the fullest consideration. Their survey in June received wide-reaching responses from businesses in all sectors, large or small and including those with apprentices and those without. Your views really do matter and it is now more important than ever to ensure that the right opportunities are out there for young people and businesses.

The Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) are seeking insights on the UK’s approach to the recognition of professional qualifications and regulation of professions.

They want to hear from the broad range of individuals, businesses and organisations that interact with all aspects of regulated professions. They would like to hear from you in particular if you are:

  • A student studying for a professional qualification at a university, in further education or on an apprenticeship
  • Someone who uses the services of regulated professionals
  • A UK or international regulated professional
  • A business which employs regulated professionals
  • An education provider who supports individuals in acquiring the qualifications needed to enter regulated professions
  • An individual with a particular interest

This call for evidence will look at the recognition of professional qualifications from other countries alongside our own current domestic arrangements.

All details and ways to respond can be found here.
