Following the 7th session of the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) Pollution Prevention and Response Sub-Committee (PPR), held from the 17 to 21 February 2020, ICOMIA has released its summary report. The report details the following areas that were discussed at the meeting that affect the superyacht and leisure marine industry:
- Guidelines for the control and management of ships’ biofouling to minimise the transfer of invasive species (resolution MEPC.207(62))
- Revision of MARPOL Annex IV and associated guidelines to introduce provisions for record-keeping and measures to confirm the lifetime performance of sewage treatment plants
- Marine plastic litter
- Antifouling Convention – Cybutryne controls - The application of an antifoul containing cybutryne will be prohibited from 1 July 2022
- Review of the IBTS guidelines and amendments to the IOPP certificate and oil record book
