British Marine member, Richardsons Leisure Limited, celebrated at the Norfolk and Suffolk Tourism Awards on Thursday 27 February 2020 as it took home the award for Staff Training Initiative of the Year 2020.
The tourism and leisure company, who last year celebrated 75 years of welcoming visitors to the Broads, was also nominated as finalists for Marketing Campaign of the Year and Camping, Glamping and Holiday Park of the Year for Hemsby Beach Holiday Park on the Norfolk coast.
In 2019, Richardson’s introduced its brand-new “We R Family” training. Working together with UNICUS, Richardson’s offered all of its team members, whether current or new, the opportunity to complete a training course centred around the company’s core family values whilst also working towards an ILM qualification. The qualification, which is nationally recognised, was offered to encourage team members to develop their skills, gain new ones and inspire confidence, which would help in their day to day roles across the businesses as well as help with their personal development.
Greg Munford, Chief Executive of Richardson’s Leisure and President of British Marine, said: “Our team are a really crucial part of our operation. If our guests and visitors are the heart of our business, then our hard-working team are the lifeblood that help make those memories our guests are seeking with us during their precious leisure time.”
“We wanted to give something back to our team, to help their personal development as well as ensure we are all singing from the same hymn sheet – that our core values and mission statement are embodied throughout each one of our businesses, whether that’s a holiday on the water or a day trip to the Suffolk coast. We’re really proud of all the hard work the team have put into their ILM qualifications and the passion they’ve shown during the We R Family team days.”
