Northern Ireland: Marinas and marine businesses eligible for COVID-19 grants

Over the last few months, British Marine has been working closely with stakeholders to ensure its members qualify for the grants announced by the Devolved Administrations. This includes the £25,000 Retail, Hospitality, Tourism and Leisure Grant announced by the Northern Ireland Executive.

British Marine is pleased to confirm that, following its representations, the Northern Ireland Local Government Association (NILGA), supports the categorisation and inclusion of marine businesses as eligible recipients of this £25,000 grant.

British Marine welcomes the position taken by NILGA and would expect local authorities in Northern Ireland to issue the grant to marinas and marine businesses which applied ahead of the deadline.

British Marine understands that the Northern Ireland Executive has also announced that the reopening of tourism-related businesses will be brought forward.

From 26 June caravan parks, camping sites and self-catering tourist accommodation can reopen. Hotel amenities and visitor attractions will also be able to reopen from Friday 3 July.

For more information and to read the letter British Marine sent to NILGA click here. The reply, which confirms that marinas and marine businesses should be eligible for this grant can be found here.
