Yesterday (19 September 2019), nine outstanding marine companies were recognised for excellence within the industry picking up a prestigious British Marine Award 2019.

Now in its sixth year, the Awards ceremony took place during the hugely popular Exhibitor Party at this year’s Southampton International Boat Show, powered by Borrow A Boat.

The winners included:

  • Best Marine Company to Work for - over 20 Employees - Ancasta International Boat Sales Ltd
  • Best Marine Company to Work for - under 20 Employees - Marine Resources Recruitment Ltd
  • Best Training and Development Award - Pendennis Shipyard Ltd
  • Marine Charity of the Year - Andrew Simpson Sailing Foundation

This year saw the launch of the new Entrepreneur of the Year Award in honour of Sunseeker’s Robert Braithwaite in recognition of the industry legend who sadly passed away this year. The inaugural winner of this gracious award was Williams Jet Tenders.

Also, as part of its long-term commitment to reduce the Show’s environmental impact and promote the plight of our oceans, British Marine launched its highly anticipated Exhibitor Environmental Award. Set to become an annual accolade, it honours exhibitors who have embraced sustainability at the Show to the fullest. This year it was awarded to joint winners, Spirit Yachts and RS Sailing, with close second and third runners up, Rockley Watersports and Sunsail & The Moorings respectively.

Lesley Robinson, British Marine CEO, praised all those honoured: “Our congratulations go to all the winners and runners up of this year’s British Marine Awards which also included our new Awards – the Entrepreneur of the Year Award in honour of Sunseeker’s Robert Braithwaite and the Exhibitor Environmental Award. We all want to be the best at what we do and these recognised companies and charities can justifiably say that they are.”
