A Naval Architect Apprenticeship Standard has been proposed for development and volunteers from the marine sector are invited to be part of the Trailblazer Group.

A Trailblazer Group of employers, including BAE Systems, Babcock and Cammell Laird are currently exploring the development of a degree apprenticeship for Naval Architect and would like to hear from other interested employers. An expression of interest has been drafted for submission to The Institute for Apprenticeships & Technical Education (IFA&TE). Please contact the group via the Maritime Superskills Project Manager, Di Fitch, on d.fitch@ljmu.ac.uk if you would like to be part of this consultation.

Blue Davies, Head of Training at British Marine commented: “This provides further opportunities for the marine sector to gain the skills and recognition in specialised areas and to enable a further variety of career progression.”

British Marine members seeking advice on apprenticeships can contact the British Marine Training team on training@britishmarine.co.uk.
