Boatbuilders, marine engineers and marine equipment manufacturers are just some of the businesses who can benefit from newly available grants through the Manufacturing Growth Programme (MGP).
With the recent extension of this free business support service across Hampshire and parts of Surrey, the MGP is now offering funding to a larger number of manufacturers operating in the marine sector.
Helping small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to accelerate their growth, over 3,000 improvement projects have already benefited in different parts of the country from the South East coast to the Midlands and Yorkshire.
Robin Simpson, Manufacturing Growth Manager, Solent region from Economic Growth Solutions commented: “It’s great to be working in partnership with British Marine, supporting manufacturers in the marine industry based as far afield as East Anglia and the South West”.
Financed through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and delivered locally by Economic Growth Solutions, which is part of Oxford Innovation Services. Individual companies can apply for grants to help with areas such as Business Development, Marketing, Product Design and Testing.
Robin continued: “Our focus is on meeting the needs of manufacturers in helping to identify where and how they can bring about business improvements. As a vibrant part of the UK economy, it is especially pleasing to be able to help those operating in the marine sector.”
Blue Davies, Head of Training at British Marine commented: “This is an opportunity for some of our manufacturing members to get financial support for their small-scale improvement projects in a quick and efficient way using the help of the MGP."
