"The introduction of Commercial marine is a very positive step forward. Raising the profile of the commercial sector and embracing issues faced by commercial workboat builders is going to be a benefit to all the members. A united force speaking with one voice and sharing best practice is exactly what is needed ."

Alan Goodchild, Goodchild Marine Services Limited.

Commercial Marine

Scope

Commercial Marine is a group association within British Marine and works on behalf of its members to promote their interests in the small commercial marine sector.

By British Marine’s definition, the small commercial marine sector is defined by:

a) the manufacture of workboats under 24m for a variety of inland, inshore and offshore commercial and professional purposes (as opposed to recreational purposes)

Commercial Marine is focused on working with members in the small craft commercial sector, which specialise in the design, build, supply chain and service provision of commercial workboats up to approximately 24 metres load line length. The association aims to offer members a wide range of support through its core strategic objectives:

1.Deliver a range of business support events at key industry exhibitions in the UK and around the world

2.Provide technical assistance to members on key domestic and international industry standards and legislation

3.Promote Commercial Marine members to UK and international markets and provide opportunities to access these

4.Provide statistics and market data on the UK small commercial marine industry
