News coverage over the last few days has shown how widespread the flooding triggered by two major storm events has been on Welsh, Yorkshire and Midlands River systems. Rivers such as the Wye, Avon, Ouse, Trent, Kennet, Severn and parts of the Thames are reporting extremely high levels and some of their catchments are saturated.
