We are seeking a Technical Executive Apprentice to work within the British Marine team to provide industry guidance and effective lobbying to support the UK Marine Industry. The successful candidate will report to the Technical Manager and is required to have a broad technical knowledge of the industry and legislative framework, notably the Recreational Craft Directive, ISO standards, Statutory Instruments and Navigation Authorities.
The position will involve direct contact with member companies, government agencies, national committees and international working groups, so a confident communicator with good presentational and negotiating skills is required. In addition, the position will require the drafting of articles for Technical Reports and regular updates to the Website.
The apprenticeship undertaken will be a Level 4 Regulatory Compliance Officer apprenticeship standard. Equivalent to a certificate in higher education, the successful candidate will be expected to attend all apprenticeship training and eventually pass the end point assessment. Training is fully supported by the company, with an assigned mentor, regular progress reviews and additional training provided as required.
The ideal candidate will be someone who holds a higher-level qualification(s) in small craft design who is looking to expand on their existing knowledge base to include supporting compliance activities and liaising with frontline regulators. Additionally, candidates will learn to provide monitoring and oversight of the compliance related activities to assure product and process quality and safety, as well as legality.
