Thursday: Visiting the MCA HQ in Southampton for a workshop on passenger vessel grandfathering rights. The MCA recently launched a consultation on their proposed changes for older vessels. Ed Tuite has held two working group meetings with our members on the consultation (one for cat A&B vessels and one for cat C&D vessels) and he will be taking our members views to the workshop and then feeding back to the working groups the MCA’s responses.
Friday: Ed is back at the MCA’s HQ in Southampton for the Domestic Passenger Ships Safety Group (DPSSG). This is a forum for the MCA to discuss all general safety and legislative changes that are affecting the UK passenger vessel industry. Items on the agenda include: MSN 1823 edition 2 amendment 1, Small Seagoing code, Grandfathering, Fees update, Emergency Personal Radio Devices and Stat X fire systems.
